How can i get my pop mail account working again?

Hi. In the past couple of days my pop mail account stopped working. The smtp outgoing works fine. It just won't receive incoming emails. I removed the account and reinstalled it but it's still not working. I have made sure the the correct port (110) is typed in for pop and i have unchecked the "Automatically detect and maintain account settings" I also have made sure that authentication: password is on too. I really am starting to pull my hair out here. Solution desperately needed. ASAP.


Ok i am not completely mac literate so please make it simple for me. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply but i have already been on this page and had no luck. It's my business email so I have to manually set up all the details. It seems that there's an issue with Yosemite and pop mail. I had it working on IMAP the other day but it seems to have decided to stop working as well. I have been struggling with this since Friday last week. Slowly losing my patience with it. Anymore advice? Anyone......

There's a sequence of steps in the support article for each of several possible scenarios of a connection failure in Mail. Please describe in detail what happened when you followed the applicable sequence all the way to the very end, without skipping any of the steps. That's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem.
