I would like advice on how to go back to a more useful product.
- I spent years creating the metadata in iPhoto only to have Photos trash it. I have no intention of spending more of the time I have left in my life recreating it.
- The editing features in Photos are much less robust than those in iPhotos.
- Photos only allows one library, rather than allowing for special purpose libraries as did iPhotos.
To your false dichotomy of only getting to ask for advice or ask for advice: I worked for Apple for almost a decade before I retired. It was one of the most exciting phases of my career, but it did not deserve the evangelical religious zeal so many attach to it or its products. I have a very soft spot for the company in my heart. When I criticize it, it is because I hope someone in power will listen. The strength of Apple have always been its understanding of its customers and its product line. I hope the company can avoid the problems most encounter when they lose a visionary leader.
If you looked at support pages you would know PHOTOS allows multiple libraries - only the designated system library is synchronized through ICLOUD to other devices - and it is the only one available direct to certain software.
Apples software help pages can be frustrating to find what you are looking for - and their support site is a great example too much junk - not enough content.
I only used IPHOTO to apply names to old pictures scanned in - and sometimes finally identify people where one photo had a name and the others did not.
Photoshop is my main tool.
