Q: How do you go back to iPhotos after downgrading to Photos?

iPhotos was a much more feature developed app. The import of the iPhotos library ignored or trashed all of the specific photo metadata. Further the "new" app lacks most of the useful features of iPhoto.

I see that you can't be bothered with the screenshot, preferring some more snark.

Goodbye and Good luck insulting one.

FYI - the OPs question was completely answered in the very first response (and several times later again) but they, like you, are not looking for answers but are looking to cause problems

The answer is simple and complete - the OP chooses not to bother to read it - and you simply are being a troll as you have no question or valid comments to add

It is not possible to help trolls or posters who do not read and follow directions

Actually, if you had read further than 2 posts, you'd see that it wasn't a solution for him.

But hey, who am I to argue with self-appointed gurus like yourself

If you had understood what you read you would have noticed that it was, but that's OK, I expected no less.

I read it all but you did not - he did not read the link and tried deleting Photos rather than iPhoto as he was instructed to do - if you do not rea (as you and he do not) and you do not follow clear directions then of course things will not work

Again the OP has the clear and correct answer - he and you just do not bother to read carefully - but trolls often do not read and /or misrepresent what is there so they can continue their troll posts

I would like advice on how to go back to a more useful product.

    • I spent years creating the metadata in iPhoto only to have Photos trash it. I have no intention of spending more of the time I have left in my life recreating it.
    • The editing features in Photos are much less robust than those in iPhotos.
    • Photos only allows one library, rather than allowing for special purpose libraries as did iPhotos.

To your false dichotomy of only getting to ask for advice or ask for advice: I worked for Apple for almost a decade before I retired. It was one of the most exciting phases of my career, but it did not deserve the evangelical religious zeal so many attach to it or its products. I have a very soft spot for the company in my heart. When I criticize it, it is because I hope someone in power will listen. The strength of Apple have always been its understanding of its customers and its product line. I hope the company can avoid the problems most encounter when they lose a visionary leader.

If you looked at support pages you would know PHOTOS allows multiple libraries - only the designated system library is synchronized through ICLOUD to other devices - and it is the only one available direct to certain software.

Apples software help pages can be frustrating to find what you are looking for - and their support site is a great example too much junk - not enough content.

I only used IPHOTO to apply names to old pictures scanned in - and sometimes finally identify people where one photo had a name and the others did not.

    Photoshop is my main tool.
