iPad "Open with" Function is only showing one App, how do I get it to show multiple applications?

In a classroom, students are using the App Showbie. 30 iPads, same versions and same apps, all updated fully.

They need to open up attachments with Pages but some iPads are not showing Pages as an option to open the attachments. Some iPads in the class are functioning ok with Pages as an option but others aren't. All iPads have the same versions and apps.

Can anyone explain why only one app is appearing in the "Open with function" when I believe there should be 10?

Can we edit apps that appear with this function in Settings?

Thanks for your help.

Some ideas for diagnosing. Try this on one ipad & see if it works.

1) Re-boot

2) reload

3) Delete pages & add back. You will have to save your data elsewhere. Dropbox.com

Re-boot ipad.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears, then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. page 128 iPad user manual.

force power down if the above give you trouble.

Hold down both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button. Ten seconds or more. Hold until the Apple logo appears.

Restore to factory settings by loading the latest version of ios that your machine will support:

Do a full backup of your device. Twice is best -- cloud and computer.

We are having the same issue -- working with Keynote. We are also in a school environment, but I do not believe it is anything that we are doing as a school. It appears randomly -- as many of our students do not have this issue at all. There are a ton of small little issues as some students see different apps -- but hardly any of them are showing more than 1-3 other apps. We are trying to at least get it to show Google Drive to copy the file there.

As far as I can figure out, there is no way to edit/change which apps show up. I thought it might be a permissions thing, but deleting the app & reinstalling it did not help. But this is really a pain! Anyone else have ideas?

I suggest you contact the Showbie folks. Read on their web site that you should contact them if you want to see new apps listed in Showbie. This gives the hint that they are doing something beyond what ios does to control file copies.

I was guessing ios controlled the list based on filetypes and what apps reported they could do. I've come across other hints that that sharing maybe more complicated than this. I figured the associations were made at app load time, hence the suggestion of reloading the app.

rccharles -- for us, this is effecting us when we are in any app (Keynote, Pages, Drive, Mail, Message, etc) -- for some reason it only shows 1-3 apps instead of the full list of apps. Ie - trying to take a Keynote presentation and send it to Drive... or Mail... or Message.. it only shows maybe Adobe Reader, DS File (our transfer app for our Synology NAS) and maybe Blio (a reader app). And that's random which apps appear. Other students have the full list. And as a last resort, we try to Air Drop the files, but for some other random students that works.
