iPhone Hotspot: 1 Connection

Hi, probably it has already been asked but I haven't managed to find out anything about that. When I enable personal hotspot on my iphone, after 3 seconds I get 1 Connection flashing in the top of the screen. Since there arr no devices to my knowledge connected to the phone, is the iPhone itself considered as conmected to itself, thus 1 connection is displayed?
