May 12, 2015 10:09 AM in response to hasmuz09by Csound1,If they can fake an iPhone then faking the serial number won't be difficult.
Go to Settings>Software Update and tell me what version of IOS is listed.

How do thieves change the chassis number/vehicle ID number of stolen cars? Ingenuity has no bounds.

May 12, 2015 10:20 AM in response to hasmuz09by FelipeV,On a trip to HK a few years back (and within a week of the original iPad coming out) many electronic stores were full of "fake" iPads, as the iPad had not yet been released outside the US. The boxes "looked" like a legitimate iPad but inside it was a plain Android tablet customized to look like an iPad.
Again, ingenuity has no bounds...

Does your device have Siri under general settings, and does Siri work? Are the screws on your case standard cross-slot screws or pentalobe screws? If you shut it down and restart it, what do you see on screen during the boot cycle? You already know it does not connect to iTunes when plugged in to a USB port on your computer, so what does it say in general settings under about, version (for iOS 8.3 the latest release will show "8.3 (12F70)"). iOS versions are always a number followed by a release code in parenthesis.

If its up to date and the version is 7.1.1, that is proof it is fake. The latest version for iPhone 5S is 8.3.

May 12, 2015 11:09 AM in response to hasmuz09by Michael Black,In general settings, under Siri, if the slider to enable Siri is ON, you would normall press and hold the home button to activate Siri.
UNder settings, general, do you have a setting for software update? If you are connected to a wifi node, and you click software update, does it show any available updates (It should)?
