imac shut off while playing a game on windows

Hello everybody!

I have installed a pc game (Test Drive Unlimited 2) on my bootcamp partition.

Sometimes, during the game, my iMac suddenly shut off, and than I have to wait few minutes before switch on again.

I have installed HWMonitor to check the temperature of Gpu and Processor. While gaming, the processor temperature get 89/90 C°.

The strange thing is that the minimum requirements of this game are are nothing compared at my iMac characteristics (Intel i7 3.4, 16 Gb Ram, Nvidia Geforce gtx 680).

Is it possible that could be some problems at the power supply of the iMac?

I run AHT (deep scan) but the system din't find any problems. All was ok...

So, I wonder why, the iMac suddenly switch off? 😕

Next time, after you play your game, and your iMac shuts down, power it back up and look for any error messages or panics in Applications -> Utilities -> Console logs.

The game that cause the iMac shut down run on Windows (Bootcamp).

So, does your suggestion works even if the iMac restart on OSX?

Yes, you should also look for logs in Event Viewer on the Windows side.

Apple Hardware Test does not catch all possible issues. The Console logs may also indicate if there are any hardware issues. The goal is to look for any issues which are heat/gpu/thermal sensor related in both logs.

One option is to get a free DropBox account (or a similar service) and upload the files there. You can then post a link on this discussions and delete the link/content once I confirm that I have read it.

Please delete the file from the dropbox link. It has personal information that you may not want other posters to see.

Are there any logs from the Windows Event Viewer? Please remove any personal information that you do not want to share.

Once you finish installation, after it crashes the first time, go back into Windows and look for any events in Event Viewer.

The logs do not indicate any OSX issues. We should look for Windows events. Your NTP time sync takes a while to get synced, but other than that, it seems normal.
