Q: My internal mic can detect keyboard sounds and clicking, but cannot detect voices. What is wrong?

1.8 GHz Intel Core i5

The sound of keyboard clicking when I type and sound of clicking my touchpad can be detected by the internal mic, however the mic cannot detect my voice by any means. What is wrong? Is it a hardware failure?
