Daisy Chain with a Macbook Pro Retina 2015

Hi!

I just bought two Dell Ultrasharp U2415 to daisy chain them. I want two working screens with the lid of ma Macbook Pro closed.

I'm connected as the following:

Macbook Pro Retina 2015 => mDP out to DPin => screen 1 => DP out to mDP in => Screen 2

With this configuration, the 2 screens will act as a second single mirror screen.

However, when I activate DP1.2 on Screen 1, both of the screens will go black. I thought the Macbook Pro Retina could handle DP1.2?

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

From your post I understand you are trying to connect multiple Mini DisplayPort displays to your MacBook Pro, and have the 2 external displays function as an extended display. If you are using a single Thunderbolt 2 port on your Mac, then you can only use a single Mini DisplayPort Device in the Thunderbolt chain. However, you should be able to use the other Thunderbolt 2 port to power your other Mini DisplayPort display.

When connecting a Mini DisplayPort display or a display using a Mini DisplayPort adapter to a Thunderbolt peripheral (except as described in question 24), make sure the display is connected at the end of the Thunderbolt chain. You can use only one Mini DisplayPort device in the Thunderbolt chain.

Note: Systems with more than one Thunderbolt port, like an iMac, can have more than one Mini DisplayPort monitor or monitor connected with a Mini DisplayPort adapter connected as each Thunderbolt port can support one Mini DisplayPort display.
