How do I change my primary email address if there's no "Edit" button?

I want to change my primary email address from my .mac address to my .icloud address but there isn't an "Edit" button next to my Apple ID and Primary Email Address as stated on Support page HT202667. I really need to delete the .mac address because the only thing sent to that address is spam.

You can't do that because effectively the @mac.com, @me.com and @icloud.com addresses are the same - you can log in with any of them.

What you need to do is to set up a Rule at icloud.com to divert all messages addressed to the @mac.com address to the Trash or another folder, then you won't be bothered by them.
