Q: Apple Pay on Apple Watch

One of the primary reasons I bought an Apple Watch was to be able to transact credit card charges more securely using Apple Pay. So far I've had only 3 opportunities to use AP . . . Office Max, Walgreens, and McDonalds.  The first time at Office Max worked fine.  The two subsequent attempts didn't work.  Now I'm fairly certain the Watch is working okay since it has worked once.  However, I'm still just as disappointed as if it wasn't working, because I've missed two opportunities to process credit card transactions more securely after spending a small fortune to do so.

it seems the Walgreens and McDonalds I used aren't cooperating in the AP program.  Shouldn't Apple be doing something to assure they are?

I would hope they are but Apple provides no means for reporting such failures. I'm assuming you mean Office Depot and the one near me never works with by Watch or iPhone. They seem totally unconcerned about it and the manager told me he isn't going to fool with it.

Haven't tried a McDonalds or a Walgreens but I have used it at Panera's and the Apple Store. However at Panera's it works in the regular line but not the self-serve kiosks.

Office Max is a different store than Office Depot (unless it's the same company, different names in different areas of the country).

Office Depot purchased Office Max, all of the latter have disappeared here. Of course now that they are going to be acquired by Staples both names will disappear and Staples doesn't use ApplePay.

Yup, same company, just different names in different regions. And, they are having difficulties. They are closing one of their major call centers in our area, and a few of the retail outlets have closed as well.

So, far, I've only used mine at Walgreens. No problems. The young clerk was incredibly jealous. Trader Joe's has just added Apple Pay as an option but I didn't notice until after I checked out. As I spend way too much money there, I expect I'll be able to test it in a day or two.

It was an Office Max.  I believe OD is in the process of buying OM.

I think when vendors respond as the person at OD did to you, our response should be that we as consumers expect the business to be serious about protecting our financial (credit card) and personal information.  And, if they are not willing to make an attempt to do so now that it's well within their power, that we will shop elsewhere at businesses that care about their customers' privacy.

I've mostly switched from Rite Aid to Walgreens because of Apple Pay. They are about equidistant from my office and Apple Pay is enough to make the difference.
