I'm sharing ProRes4444 exports of a lower third name key. In FCPX the only composting that works is "Add" but it's too light.
What am I doing wrong?

I had the Motion file for supers set up incorrectly. I found that you need to open a "Final Cut Title" if you want to do any keys. The only way I could get the "Motion Project" file to blend was with choosing "add" to drop out the black. This worked but the graphic was too transparent to be a lower third name key. I'm still doing a lot of file "sharing" - Exporting Movies of my graphic work (mainly lower thirds) to reimport into FCPX. Is there another way to do this?
You probably made the background black instead of transparent. You should just use blend mode "Normal".
In Motion, select the Project in the Layers list, go to the Inspector. Make sure background is set to "Transparent":
Good advice. I did open a Motion template for lowers to modify, that's why I'm wondering why it wasn't set up like that.
