I just purchased a Seagate Backup Plus Drive for my Mac Mini to hold my movies, pictures, music and so on. I already did the registering for it, selecting it is for Mac only and even wiping it clean (even though there was nothing in there to begin with). However, I can't upload anything in it. Did I do something wrong here? If anyone knows what to do please tell because I am stumped.
I suspect the HD is formatted with the Windows NTFS format. A Mac can't natively write to that format.
If yo go to Disk Utility what format is specified?

Although this is not likely your problem, if you were prompted to install any Seagate
utility software, remove it immediately. Drive manufacturers utilities quite often cause
nothing but problems, especially on the latest versions of OS X.
Besides, they aren't needed anyway.
What drive did you get, specifically? Does the drive mount (show up on your desktop)? I am assuming that it does, if Disk utility can see it.
You can back up very simply by dragging files to whatever backup folders you choose to set up on the Seagate drive. A better idea is to use SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner to make a complete cloned backup of your system.
Yes, the drive is automatically formatted to NTFS after you buy it, but that's why seagate provides this NTFS driver for the mac so you can write natively without reformatting. Works like magic...
