Using iphone first and then connect to itunes?

So I was using my iphone for some time and normally my iPhone would backup through iCloud.

Now that I can't backup anymore because the iCloud storage is full and I don't want to pay money to upgrade it.

So I tried to connect it to my laptop (Macbook Pro) and the only options it gives me is to configure as a new device, or from some old backups from older iPhones wich where somewhere on my laptop.

I have no idea what to do because I want to make a backup of my iPhone on my Macbook Pro. I have an iPhone 6.

iPhone 6, iOS 8.3, null

Thanks for the quick reply D.Cohen, but it still isn't solved with this.

The problem is when I connect my iPhone to my Macbook this is the only screen I get:

User uploaded file

When I open the Archive tab in the upper left corner this is the only option I can choose:

User uploaded file

The option I need is grayed out, and I don't want to configure my iPhone as a new one, because then I'll lose everything on my iPhone.
