May 15, 2015 7:21 AM in response to Beepheby dennis3484,I have a similiar problem but my files are stored locally on the MacBook (Retina, 13', Mid 2014).
Do you also have this problem if you set up an alternate iTunes Library file? Please see: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201596

May 17, 2015 1:41 AM in response to Beepheby Beephe,I tried your suggestion and even though it was an empty library itunes would not close, and so back to force quit. Would really like to resolve this but have no idea how.

May 29, 2015 9:09 AM in response to Beepheby dennis3484,Does a crash report would help anyone to narrow down this issue? Otherwise I guess that my only option left is to reinstall Mac OS X.

May 30, 2015 2:48 AM in response to Beepheby dennis3484,Is there any chance that you have Hands Off! installed? I've tried to remove all apps that were running in the background and since Hands Off! is gone iTunes works as it should be.

Jun 4, 2015 11:39 AM in response to dennis3484by Beephe,I appreciate your help with this matter. I tried your suggestions and a whole bunch of other things I looked up on the internet and somehow i fixed the issue, although that was a while ago and I thought I should at least share how I got it sorted
However Im now not absolutly sure that these are the steps that resolved it for me ( so try cautiously)
Do not have iTunes open whilst undertaking these steps.
I think I checked and resolved any 'permission' issues using disk utility.
Deleted a bunch of files (moved them first to safe place just in case you can put them back if it dont work)
home folder/library/preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist
home folder/library/preferences/com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist
Hopethis works for you
