My 5th generation nano is stuck with OK to disconnect on the screen. I can't get it to do anything

I understand that your iPod nano (5th generation) shows “Ok to disconnect” on the display and you cannot get it to respond otherwise. In this situation, I would recommend working through the iPod nano Troubleshooting Assistant attached below. These steps should be able to help you resolve this situation.
