Yeah very simple check this out works like a charm!
You can use any iDevice to call any MAC's iSight with FaceTime its FREE all you need is to enter 2 code lines in to terminal....
In addition to the other ideas already provided, you could use another Mac and Apple Remote Desktop to control your iMac (and its camera).

If you have a second Mac use Sharing. Apple provides a good explanation in:
OS X Mavericks: Screen sharing
If you don't have a second Mac then there are third party applications that do similar things.
