Hi ezrunner,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you are not receiving all of the notifications you would like to on your  Watch. The first troubleshooting step I would recommend in this situation would be to check the notifications selected in the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Please review the Apple Watch User Guide (page 28) attached below for more information.

https://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1708/en_US/apple_watch_user_guide. pdf

Choose which notifications you get. On iPhone, go to Settings > Notifications to specify which apps and events generate notifications. Then, open the Apple Watch app on iPhone, tap
My Watch, tap Notifications, tap the app (for example, Messages), then choose Mirror my iPhone. Or, to choose different notification settings than those on iPhone, choose Custom instead.

Best regards,

Joe

Had this same problem and it drove me crazy, you have to go into the watch app on the phone and switch from Mirror my phone in Message, Mail and Phone to custom make sure sound is on, second the phone has to be in sleep mode like when it cuts off by itself when not being used, this solves the problem, just have a friend text you and you should get a ding and vibration from the watch!

For any alerts that aren't behaving correctly on the watch ( as long as you have them set for the watch ) go to Notifications in the phone's settings and for that alert, whether it be Messages or any others, toggle off Allow Notifications and then toggle them back on. This should reset the correct behavior on the watch. Most of these issues originate on the phone and can be resolved there. There's a bug in the current watch software that cause Messages to sound off on the phone first and then the watch if it even goes off at all. I have various other alerts from news app, weather apps, etc. that occasionally stop producing a sound or vibration on the watch even though they appear there. Toggling them off and on on the phone has almost always corrected the issue.

I fixed my problem solely by (I think...) deleting all of my VIP people. I noticed mail configuration settings in iPhone say VIP settings will override all others, but as soon as i removed them all, every email is coming through faithfully!

Just a note: i had my main email address(es) [gmail, icloud] as VIP, so no sure how this affected sending myself test emails could be. Please let me know if you figure out how this made it an issue. (Thanks in advance)

This worked for me

Try turning bluetooth on iphone off for one minute and on again. There's a bluetooth issue that causes this and I hope will be fixed with IOS9 and Watch OS2.
