May 14, 2015 1:59 PM in response to Linc Davisby Dale.Lowery,Thanks, Linc. I have tried this to no avail.
I thought perhaps I had seen the problem when I found and checked a box for "Sync voice memos" under "Music" when looking at the iPhone itself from the iTunes window. This made no apparent difference in the subsequent sync, done to the local computer.
I thought perhaps it had to do with size, as the file i'm after (oops, do we still call them files?) is about an hour & 20 min long. BUT I have another of a similar length that I've somehow gotten over in the past, tho I don't know how. Maybe it will catch up in a few days when slack has accumulated?

May 14, 2015 3:14 PM in response to Linc Davisby Dale.Lowery,Well, shucky darn, Linc, no end of trouble.
To whit: this article unfortunately (but understandably) references a past version of iTunes and so references iTunes menus no longer available. Sigh.
However, it also advises synching and then looking under Voice Memos in iTunes to see if they came across. Wellllll, I tried to do this, but as soon as I click on the Music icon in iTunes, i get a helpful message that says "The iPhone (mine) is synced with another iTunes library on "Genius Bar RA". Do you want to erase this iPhone and synch with this iTunes library?" Gosh, thanks for asking, but actually, NO! This is actually the opposite of what I am trying to achieve, but I don't see anyway to force a reverse.
As far as I know, "Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library." Well, I don't know why I'm currently synched with a Genius Bar (sub)genius*, but I'm pretty sure that erasing this iPhone will not move my Voice Memos to the computer. Eh?
*Likely has to do with that cracked screen replacement last month, but i'm almost positive I've synched (or thought I did!) several times since then. Sigh. Again.

May 14, 2015 3:23 PM in response to Dale.Loweryby Linc Davis,The voice memos are not iTunes content and should not be erased when you resync the phone with your own library, but regardless, you should get them off using one of the alternative methods mentioned on those pages.

Jun 17, 2015 7:23 PM in response to Dale.Loweryby Babeltongue,I have this issue too. I have voice memos I need to send to somebody. I have tried syncing through iTunes with the sync voice memos checked. I have backed up my iphone. I have tried airdrop (didn't work), I have tried emailing, but the files too big. I downloaded dropbox to my iphone and that didn't work. I used to use voice memos on an android (Samsung galaxy) and had no problem syncing them to my macbook.
