old software installation 10.6.4 will not enable software update 10.6.8

I was having problems with my desktop. After backing up, Apple Care got me to uninstall 10.6.8. It reinstalled 10.6.4.

Now it is not allowing me to update software to 10.6.8 so I can't get to my mail, photos or itunes.

What to do?

Thanks.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

The 1GB combo update will work with ANY version of OS X 10.6, not just 10.6.7. I just recently updated a friend's MBP from the installation disc with 10.6.3. System requirements are 10.6 - 10.6.7.

The delta updates are the ones that require a baseline update (.5, .6, etc) Delta updates were common practice with Tiger 10.4 but to my knowledge none exist for Snow Leopard.
