Q: .mp4 in Compressor 4.2 - Error trying to open source media files.

When I want to add .mp4 file in Compressor 4.2, it says "error trying to open source media file."

However when I add .mov file, Compressor 4.2 accept that file.

How can I insert .mp4 file to Compressor?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

    Glad you have it sorted.

You posed an excellent question, MP4 is a container and there are many different types of them.

Compressor is kind of finicky and I've found it will open some my MP4s and won't open others.

Final Cut Pro is more forgiving. So someone who is having trouble with Compressor opening am MP4 file with probably find that GCP X has no trouble.

If you don't have Final Cut, try MPEG Streamclop.
