Is anyone else having speaker issues after showering with the watch?

I have had my apple watch replaced once already for muffled sound/speaker issues. I have had my replacement watch back for a few days. I have worn it in the shower 2 times. After I shower my speaker does not work. It takes hours to be able to hear it again. I am considering returning it and getting my money back. It is so expensive and according to the marketing we should be able to wear it in the shower. I can't decide if it is worth the money if I can't wear it in the shower without worrying.

Yo dude? The OP indicated that their watch dried after several hours. They didn't (as of the original post) mention trying to get it replaced. The were considering returning it because it didn't meet their needs.

Stop wearing it in the shower,

Wearing it in the shower did not void warranty and won't (I don't think-at least that is what the Apple specialist told me). When Apple examined my watch, the water sensor inside had not been exposed to water. So that was good. They did replace it for free. I did not have Apple Care at that time (I do know). It was within the first 30 days though so they took care of it. I do not wear it in the shower anymore.

I have owned my stainless steel watch for over a month now. I have worn mine in the shower daily until yesterday. Water does get into the speak slots but I also noticed it was muffling the speaker and then crackling sounds were coming from it. Blowing the water out only helps but the speaker was still wet and crackling. Good news is that it went away over night on the charger. I won't be showering with my watch anymore. I want to mention nothing happened for the first month of showering, that I noticed until a few days ago. So you might think it's okay now but over time it won't be.

This is all very interesting as I owned a Pebble before the AW and not only showered with it, I did all kinds of water related activities with it. Hard to imagine Apple would charge so much for a piece of hardware that you can't feel comfortable just even washing your hands with. And showering was one of the things I was looking forward to doing with my watch as you can control the phone and send messages while away from the phone. I am very hyper aware of this issue and wonder how long I'll be able to stop taking the watch off for even dishes (i never fill the sink) after so long not caring if whatever watch I had on my wrist got wet or dunked. Specially annoying when you think the sports band is really hard for me to put on LOL! I do have apple care and hopefully I won't have a problem replacing the watch if something goes wrong.

KTMBL what is so important about wearing your watch in the shower, your not in there that long, leave your watch sitting on a shelf near the shower, tania no way does the Pebble do "the same" as the apple watch, not even the new Pebble Time, you can't put the in the same bracket, if that is all you wanted why did you feel the need for a Apple Watch, I gave away my Pebble after getting my Apple Watch as the is no way I was going back to the Pebble, the Pebble Time looks like a kiddies watch.

well, Jim, my excuse for wanting an Apple Watch is about as mundane as the reasons I had for getting the latest Iphone, the latest Mac Book Pro and the Ipad. Although, I do use my MacBP for work, but that's beside the point. I like all things Apple. That being said, liking something is not an excuse for not pointing out the flaws. And in my opinion, a piece of hardware that can supposedly get wet in the rain and while washing yer hands, should also withstand a regular shower. Can't imagine what'll happen to the watch while on the wrist of someone who sweats a lot. LOL! Yes, I agree. The Pebble does look like a kid's toy now, but when it came out it was the best out there and I have a lotta respect for it. It's served me well and has consistently notified me of many a text and phone call I woulda missed otherwise.

Thing to note here guys is I showered with mine for over a month. A muffled speaker that dries out in less then 8 hours is not a big deal and only happened to me twice. Have you all seen this? <Link Edited by Host>

The watch is more then capable of handling the rain, washing hands, and more. It's just good to know if your speaker gets muffled what to do.

I also agree that the pebble doesn't compare to what the apple watch does. The watch is great for first edition!

Don't worry about the water guys! Enjoy!

Calm down. water going into speakers is perfectly normal. it will evaporate after a few hours and everything will be fine. avoid showering with it in the future though. if anything should go wrong however, apple will replace it if you have applecare+.

I'm having the same problem for about a week. Whenever I sweat a lot after an extreme work out or after I take shower (Sometimes even when I do dishes), my AW speakers don't work anymore. First, I find out the sound is not completely out, it just becomes very low. I can still hear something if I bring it close enough to my ear. Secondly, usually after one complete charging time, the speaker is back to normal some how. So I decide to play around with it a little bit.

Finally I think I figure it out! Whenever my AW goes "mute" after soaking in water/sweat, I literally suck on all the holes that can possibly conceal water. I know it sounds stupidly ridiculous and skeptical. But IT WORKS! I'm guessing it's the water that runs into the speaker holes thus blocks the sound coming out.
