Q: How do I download Safari 6.1x?

The Mac App Store is a bust.

I need to upgrade to the most recent version of Safari for Mountain Lion (I specifically need a ML volume) but the only option through the totally lame App Store is to move all the way to Yosemite. I upgraded one volume at work to Yosemite and it was a disaster - shot my network and server access to ragged pieces.

Where can I download Safari 6.1x?

Mac Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8), early 2009

You can do that by re-installing Mountain Lion. If you don't have a Mountain Lion installer, then:

To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase a redemption code at the Online Apple Store: OS X Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. Use the code to redeem a download of Mountain Lion from the App Store. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

If you originally got Mountain Lion from the App Store, then you might try re-downloading it from your Purchases page in the App Store.

I installed the Mountain Lion upgrade and two things happened: the contextual menu for page and tab were reversed, plus I could no longer find the Facebook Server. I installed the 10.8.5 combined upgrade, which fixed the Facebook problem but not Safari. I'm stuck with Safari 6.0.5. Before the Mac App Store, it was possible to download just about everything. Now the only Safari upgrades I see on Apple's site are ancient versions. Despite 17 days of a constant exchange of support from Apple I couldn't even download ML via the App Store after purchasing it (server error on Apple's end). I ended up getting a copy on a thumb drive from the local Apple authorized service center.

I'm not frantic to upgrade, but I have to relearn the right click because of the contextual menu switch. It would be nice if I could reinstall the OS on a freshly wiped drive but my copy of CS6 master collection was a golden master download from Adobe, without backup and going back to CS4 is not the right move.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
