Q: How do I name the photos I am importing into Photos?

I cannot believe how difficult it is to do the simplest things with Photos.  I want to name them and cannot find the way.  I want to add more shots to a particular event/album.  How?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

You are asking about two different things. To name (title) your photos, in the View > Metadata menu enable Titles (or use the keyboard shortcut command+shift+T). Then hover the pointer below a photo thumbnail until "Untitled" shows up & click there. Type in the title you would like for that photo.

Alternately, open the Info window (command+i) & title it there.

To add photos to albums (there are no events in Photos), select them & use the + button at the top of the window. Alternately, if the Sidebar is visible, you can just drag them onto an album & drop them there.

And that reply was not the least bit helpful

If you want help you have t provide information - it was not helpful contains no useful information for any ton tryintg to help you

Photos do not have "names" so you need to clearly explain what you want to do - you were told how to "title" a photo - since that is not what you want then you must explain what you do want

And the instructions for adding a photos to an album are clear and simple - if you are having a problem yu simply have to say ore the "it did not work"

I believe in this context NAME is the same as TITLE

How about a bulk TITLE or NAME change? Can that be done?

Check out Community: Photos for Mac (User Tips - Photos) & see if any of the batch change scripts/services would meet your needs.

Thank you. I used one of the scripts...resorted to the download. Trying to learn the scripting process (you know, the old dog, new tricks thing) was mental strain beyond tolerance.

I am assuming by changing the title of the pic that I need not worry about the default counter of my camera causing the over-writing of photos because it got around to starting over.

There is no need to worry about that at all - Photos handles duplicate file names just fine

And changing the title has no effect of the file name - it is just for humans - the file names is and will stay as assigned by the camera
