What means D53 Led on?

Hi, I have an XServe G5 with MacOS X 10.4.8, and it is restarting wll the time. Do not generate crash logs.

The first symptom is the computer frozen and the D53 led is on (the D53 led is a small led at right side of the Motherboard close to the PMU reset switch)

When the watchdog system resets the machine, it halt in the booting process.

The last message by console (the boot is in verbose mode) is:
The Regents of the University of California. All rights reserved.
using 8192 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers
DART enabled

And the led is ON again.

If I resets the PMU or wait for a few minutes to restart the machine, it boots well, and works for a hours/days before crash again.

Basically I think I will have to change the motherboard, but I want to known what means that diode ON.

Thanks in advance.

Hi! Thanks for your reply, but in that manual is for the XServe RAID, not for XServe node. In the User Guide for XServe G5 only talk about frontpanel leds, and not anything about the inside leds.

The frontpanel leds are off all of them :-s

The ECC in this case is about the Memory Error Correction Code, not Raid 1 Error Correction Code.

Thanks again

HMolina.

Hi,

No problem about the mistake :-D

I read all the available manuals in apple website (included XServe G5 Service Source manual not available there), and not found information about my problem 😟, nor D53 Led means.

It is not a software problem, because we have 35 XServe G5 (2.0 and 2.5 GHz), and after exchange the HDD with other which is working well, it fails again :'(

This is my last seeking place, before replace (or put in the trash) the motherboard.

Thanks in advance.
