When i try to erase my Hard Drive it says "Volume Erase failed with the error: Couldn't open disk." PLease help thank you

Yes so basically when i go to recovery mode and try to erase my disk its gives the following error(by disk utility)

Volume Erase failed

Volume Erase Failed with the error:

Couldn't open disk.

I appreciate all of your help
