unable to AIRDROP MacBook Pro - iPad mini 64gb

Want to send photos and videos from iPad mini to MacBook Pro. Bluetooth and WiFi on both devices indicate connected to the other, but no indication of connection in Photo/Video share screen on iPad and on MacBook Pro(Late 2011- running OS X Yosemite 10.10.3)> Finder> AirDrop: feint messager saying; "Device is not set up for this" HELP - anyone!..."Is there anybody out there"

Apple says:

"In order to transfer files between a Mac and and an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

" • your iOS device needs to include a lightning connector

" • your iOS device needs iOS 7 or later installed

" • your Mac needs to be a 2012 or later model with OS X Yosemite installed

" • Your Mac and iOS device both need bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on. You do not have to be connected to a specific Wi-Fi network.

Thanks for your reply, that one line; • your Mac needs to be a 2012 or later model with OS X Yosemite installed, as I posted previously mine's a MBP 13" late 2011, I just scraped in for the multi screen ability, even though I have OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 installed I'm just to old. I wish I had done some research prior to the hoursI have spent trying to get AirDrop to work. Fortunately checking for replies was to be the start of my trying again to transfer. I have installed PhotoSync......
