Burned DVD-R discs read as blank.

I purchased a Samsung DVD/VCR recorder model DVD-VR330. I recorded a DVD-R. The recorded disk played fine in that unit. I tired to mount the disk in my iMac G5 with superdrive and it thinks the disk is blank. I tired it in my iBook G4 same thing. I even tired it in a Dell Laptop (Sorry) Windows couldn’t read the disc. I tired it in another DVD player no go. Samsung support wasn’t much help…if it plays O.K. in our player it’s working properly. I never had any problems with DVDs or CDs in my iMac, this is bugging me. I guess the only thing I could try would be a different DVD format DVD+R or whatever.
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance
Rick

Finalize is the same as Verify.

Well then, I have a different problem. The dvd+r disc I burned on to did go through a verify cycle. It took a long time, so I walked away, and when I came back, it appeared that the disc was finished. (The verify %complete bar was gone, and I did expect some sort of message stating that the job was complete, but nothing, so I ejected the disc.) I put it in my several-year old Toshiba dvd player, and disc error came up, which is not surprising because I've come across homemade dvd's that didn't work. I put it back into the iMac, and it just seemed to stall (I think it did open iDVD, but I'm not exactly sure).

Anyway, I bought some dvd+r disc to try again. Why dvd+r? I don't know. Perhaps I should've gotten dvd-r instead? (But, from what I've read around in here, both should burn and play in my iMac just fine, right?)

Suggestions? Thank you.
