I can't get to home screen - clicking button only brings me to the watch

Question

I can't get to home screen - clicking button only brings me to the watch

From the time display when I click on the side button it doesn't bring me to the Main Menu with all the App icons. Is this right? Is there a setting I need to select to allow me to navigate there?

that's because pressing on the digital crown will take you back to the last app used. Press it again to go back to the home screen.
