Q: Restore messages while restoring backup on a new mobile
I'm buying an iphone 6 and will retire my iphone 4. I'm planing to do a backup and use it to start my new iphone. My question is, will my messages iMessages and its attachments get restored from my backup in my new iphone? I read in an article (About backups in iCloud and iTunes - Apple SupportAbout backups in iCloud and iTunes - Apple Support) that messages won't get transferred from different kind of devices. Is iphone 4 and iphone 6 considered different kind of devices?

iPhone to iPhone, no issues at all. iPhone to iPad would be different devices.
