May 15, 2015 3:14 PM in response to maclab5by GeeD,Is the problem is that on launch FCP immediately tries to load a suspect project?
You can avoid this by holding down the alt key while you launch. Now FCP will ask you which library you want to open. When that opens it will not automatically load any project so you can right-click on the problem project and select "Move to Trash."

May 18, 2015 8:36 AM in response to GeeDby maclab5,Hello,
Thanks for the response. I tried holding down the option/alt key when launching FCP. Unfortunately this did not give me the option to select which library to open and is still giving me the 'spinning-wheel of death'. Still wondering about just uninstalling FCP and reinstalling using the link from my post above. Although the article says it is for OSX 10.9 whereas my machine is OSX 10.8.4.
Thanks,
Dan C.

May 18, 2015 8:47 AM in response to maclab5by Tom Wolsky,What version are you using exactly? Unless you have a copy of the version you're using you can't reinstall from the App Store. Reinstalling the application will is most unlikely to fix the problem.

May 18, 2015 8:54 AM in response to Tom Wolskyby maclab5,At this point in time, we are calling the project gone. Being on the IT staff, we have let them know that we will get FC working again, though the project will not be recovered. We will need to upgrade FC on 2 other machines as well, so my thought is I upgrade this one, and then do the other 2 machines this summer.
All machines have Final Cut Pro v.10.0.8
Thoughts?
Thanks,
DC

May 18, 2015 9:00 AM in response to maclab5by Tom Wolsky,The current version of FCPX requires Yosemite. It is a significant change from 10.0.8. I'd suggest reading up on it before going through the upgrade process.

May 18, 2015 9:39 AM in response to Tom Wolskyby maclab5,Ok. I still have the question then, is this the proper way (link below) to remove our 10.0.8 version of Final Cut Pro? Not being a Mac guru, I just want to make sure I follow the proper steps!
How do I remove Final Cut Pro 10.0.8
Thanks,
DC

May 18, 2015 1:28 PM in response to Tom Wolskyby maclab5,Does anyone know if the upgrade to Final Cut x v.10.2.1 will cost extra? Or is that typically included in the base cost of Final Cut X ? We are on FC 10.0.8
Thanks,
