Why is the MBTA turnstile triggering Apple Pay?

I have a wallet case for my iPhone 6.

I have my Charlie Card for the MBTA in the wallet so I can swipe the card through the wallet.

I have ApplePay enabled.

When I swipe through the turnstile it clearly recognizes my monthly unlimited CharlieCard and displays the expiration date.

However when I happen to look at my phone right after I hae the Apply Pay authorize payment with touch ID screen.

What's going on on?

The turnstile more than likely uses NFC to recognize your CharlieCard. The iPhone sees the NFC and thinks you are trying to make a payment and opens Apple Pay.

Nothing to be concerned about, just ignore it and as you move away the Apple Pay screen should go away.

Thanks. That's about what I figured.

I became more concerned when I unlocking with my print and saw the touch pay screen up when i looked.

As in, what happens if I accidentally confirm the payment?

There isn't really a transaction that can be created even if I remain in range, right?

Correct, it will automatically bring up the option to confirm with TouchID but there's really not a transaction so there's not a payment that can be processed.

Can I ask what your wallet iPhone 6 case is and do you like it? I'm ISO perfect, slim, case that will do the same for my SmarTrip card in DC (also an RFID). Thanks.
