May 19, 2015 10:56 PM in response to hueyoby Marc Bodmer,hi there
i am having the same problem here. ical seems to work fine on iphone 6 and ipad mini, but is screwing around on the imac, where i am still running mavricks. looking at earlier posts with the same issue, i tried omitting "&" in the entries or set the preferences to "1 minute" and not push, but neither helped.
the problem lies with apple. they have to solve it.

May 20, 2015 3:12 PM in response to hueyoby ktshastsa,I've been having this same problem for a few days and finally decided to see if anyone else was! I end up copying the text for my event, so that I can paste it back into the New Event text that takes over. Major PIA. It must be from a software update that was installed not too long ago. I sure hope Apple figures this one out!

May 20, 2015 5:26 PM in response to Marc Bodmerby Shawntrey,So my question is how long do we have to keep posting before apple steps in to comment

May 20, 2015 7:19 PM in response to hueyoby mrchntmarine,so I started having this same problem today too. as soon as i enter an event on the computer, not iPhone or iPad, in calendar other than no category, the event changes to new event and looses all the details. If i enter the event in no category, all is fine. problem is I NEED to use categories.

May 21, 2015 12:04 AM in response to Marc Bodmerby acmac,Hi All
Just to give you an update. I have been on the phone with Apple for the last 2 hours and strangely they were not aware of this issue. hmmmm??
We tried a few things including unsyncing all diaries and resyncing them which had no effect.
So far myself and my staff have been adding appointments by using the + sign in the top left corner and they seem to stay put and don't revert to New Event.
I shall let you know once i hear back from Apple Support.

May 21, 2015 2:41 AM in response to hueyoby oystercard,I have also been having this problem for the past week or so. The only thing that seems to help is to leave the calendar setting to the default option. If I choose another calendar, it automatically changes to "new event" after a few seconds. So frustrating to spend time entering a set of recurring meetings only to loose it over and over again, no matter how many times I try. At least now I can enter events - but having them all on the same calendar/color is difficult since I use different calendar colors for different people and types of events, and without that option my calendar is more difficult to manage.

May 21, 2015 3:16 PM in response to hueyoby lisajey,I am having the same issue. How is it that Apple is not aware of this incredible HUGE system bug?

May 21, 2015 6:44 PM in response to hueyoby Terayon01,Same problem.
HOWEVER, if i make the entry from iOS (iPhone/iPad) it seems to work. iMac and Macbook are still misbehaving.
I wonder if this is a problem with iCloud??
Anybody having issues with iCal events that are NOT on iCloud??

May 21, 2015 6:54 PM in response to hueyoby ktshastsa,Today, my problem seems to be miraculously fixed! I didn't do anything that I know of. Is anyone else having success?

May 21, 2015 7:13 PM in response to hueyoby sduprie,Aside from entering all data on the phone, or editing repeatedly, is there another fix? I am still getting "New Events" without data. I am consistently missing meetings as this point. My problem seems to be when I enter an event on my Mac but not my phone. I sync via iCloud.

May 21, 2015 7:20 PM in response to hueyoby ktshastsa,Mine seems to be working correctly consistently now and I'm not using iCloud and am using the iCal on my desktop machine.

May 21, 2015 7:24 PM in response to hueyoby hueyo,I'm still finding that the problem is behaving as before, AND I'm still finding that my easy workaround works:
create the new event,
fill in all the information, but WITHOUT changing to a different calendar,
close the editing window,
right-click on the event, and then choose the appropriate calendar from the contextual menu.
Not really any extra trouble at all.

May 21, 2015 8:00 PM in response to ktshastsaby lisajey,I don't get it. It worked fine a week or ten days ago. I did conduct updates on my iMAc... not sure whether there was any kind of update for Apple in there. Mine is still not working great.

May 21, 2015 10:51 PM in response to hueyoby brookewood,Problem has been going on for at least 10 days. Extremely frustrating to look at my iCal to see "NEW EVENT" with no information. I'm a busy realtor who can't afford this inefficiency! Apple? Solutions?
