If you are using wireless, try an ethernet cable connection.   It is much faster, too.

And have you talked directly to your ISP?   They may have updated systems and not yet advised everyone.

Let us know if the matter is resolved ... and how.   The new BT hub has been a problem for some.

When you wake up the Mac, go to System Log in Console.app (in Utilities) and look for any messages about connecting to Airport (en1). Copy and paste what you find here--but only those related to connecting. (Enter "en1" no quotes, in the String Matching field, and see what comes of that, as well.

Oops, after reading more carefully (was rushing before), I'm seeing that you are not connecting wirelessly. But, still, as soon as the computer wakes, open system log in Console and take note of any messages that might be related to this issue.

Another thing to try is to set up a new Location in System Preferences>Network. The current one is probably named "Automatic." I would also recommend getting into the following, by clicking Assist Me. Try Diagnostics (but only in the first five minutes after waking, when the issue occurs) which may help to discover the cause of the problem, and Assistant (to set up a new Location). This would appear most likely to be a local issue unrelated to your ISP.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. At the moment I am awaiting a new ethernet cable from BT.I contacted them and after carrying out the usual test they are suggesting it is a local issue and possibly a fault with the ethernet cable.I will up date you in due course.

Thanks for keeping us advised.   The broken cable sounds feasible.

I could be wrong, but I don't see it being an issue with the ethernet cable. If it was, it wouldn't only occur on wake from sleep, it would be happening more or less randomly any time, Mac sleeping then waking or not.

I wouldn't hold my breath that a new cable will be the fix. Try creating a new location in Network and give Diagnostics (shown above) a go.

Another thing to try is to see if it also does this from a different account. You can try the Guest account, or create a new account with admin privileges just for testing purposes. Always good to have another admin account around anyway.

    More than likely the filter.
