Terrible battery life and/or frequent crashing

Hi guys

This is just to help anyone else who is having terrible battery life on their apple watch.

I got my apple watch a week ago. I was getting really frustrated as my friends who had the watch were getting great battery life and I could not make it past 15:00 in the afternoon.

I was also getting crashes on my iPhone and watch all day. at least 10 times a day.

I reset the watch. Reset my iPhone and restored from backup. Same issues. I contacted Apple. They sent out a new Apple watch. Same issue.

I then noticed that on my iPhone, under battery usage the home and lock screen was consuming 29% of my battery. Very strange.

I went into the Apple store and they ran some diagnostics. They thought it was the software on the iPhone. Something in my profile was doing a lot of background work. They asked that I reset the iPhone and not restore the backup. I did that. I then slowly strated to re-install my apps one by one.

I then found the culprit. As soon as I installed Airwatch it all went Pete Tong (wrong).

Airwatch is software that allows your company to provide your company email through your personal iPhone and still have controll over security and access control.

I uninstalled it and the results are insane. Before I could not reach 15:00 on my apple watch. Now it's 15:45 and I'm sitting on 75%. Much, much better and no crashes.

Hope this helps anyone in my situation.

I contacted Airwatch (now owned by VMware) via their support email address after I found the cause of the issues. I explained in deail the issue and the steps I took to identify their software as the issue. They replied back saying they do not provide support to end users and I should go through my company's support department. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I didn't want support, I was just informing them.

Hi,

I had the same problem and fixed it by

1. removing the Airwatch profile completely form the iphone.

2. Then link the apple watch with the iphone

3. Re-deploy the airwathc device enrollment etc to kget company email etc.

Now it works like a charm and you can see corporate mail notifications agenda items etc while the battery is not longer depleted in 3 hours time.

I hope it works for you as well.
