My MacBook Pro (2011, 13") froze last night. I clicked the reset button and it now opens to Disk Utility. I have tried to repair the disk: I set up a thumb drive with a Mavericks OS boot disk, and opened Disk Utility there. I tried the repair but it failed and told me backup files now and reboot. I restarted my laptop and opened to Recovery HD to backup my files onto my hard drive. Now I'm getting "Could not validate source - error 254." I'm out of options. I do not have a backup (I was literally just about to backup my files for the first time with my new external HD). Fortunately, I didn't have any critical documents on my laptop, but I'm still hoping I could salvage some of my files. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
