Q: does copying files or dragging  files to iCloud drive on finder sidebar upload and show contents of drive without using drive space aswell

Hello i like to use iCloud drive but (same as others) when i copy a file to iCloud drive in finder sidebar will it still use more disk space .

More simpler does having any online drive sidebar use hard drive space when showing files i only want to add and view, change

not use my space and view online files that defeats the point of having some files only online without using disk space because i haven't got much space left (30gb).

Thank you

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

That is not what iCloud Drive is meant for.  If you enable iCloud Drive on your Mac it will mirror the files on iCloud Drive on your MAc. It is meant to keep all files in sync across all your devices.  (see:  iCloud Drive FAQ)

If you want to save space on your Mac, use other services - iTunes Match can store all songs in the cloud without keeping copies on your mac, and iCloud Photo Library will only store only optimised lightweight versions of your photos on your Mac.
