Q: what can I delete to maximize disk space

After migration what iphoto files can I delete to maximize disk space. Right now I have two iphoto files ea about 20 gigs and 2 photo files that were the result of the migration of just short the same amount each. It seems I should be able to delete the 40gigs of iphoto now to maximize my disk space but I keep reading not to do that. Ive already deleted the iphoto app so I dont see the point in keeping the iphoto folders. Suggestions anyone?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

you can delete the iPhoto libraries but it will not return very much space - see Photos saves disk space by sharing images with your iPhoto or Aperture libraries - Apple Support- and once they are gone they are gone and you can not get them back

And it was probably not a good idea to trash the iphoto App - it is small and can be hard to get back if you want it

Sorry but if that is the case then why does it show that each file is taking up 20gigs of space if it isn't(see picture). That makes no sense at all (not you but the program). I now have twice as much space taken up than before. Plus I have to have 2 programs, I see no advantage here. I'm beginning to think I should just toss them both to the wind and use another program maybe lightroom and be done with both of them because I really can't see where this is an upgrade when you have to hold on to the old stuff.Screen Shot 2015-05-16 at 11.13.47 PM.png
