Logic Pro X 10.1.1. I select a loop region of a track, but when I click momentarily on another track, or do anything else like click a mute button, suddenly the loop region changes to the whole track. Then I have to re-find the region I was working on. Very frustrating!
No sure if this is a new bug since I updated the version. I never noticed this behaviour before. Perhaps I accidentally changed a setting. 😕

I have just re-solved the original problem of loosing the loop region selection, since the problem reappeared: When "Auto Set Locators" is set to ON in the cycle button, you get this behaviour. I simply had not noticed that this option was somehow accidentally selected (not something I've used).
Actually, now that I have discovered this function I'm finding it quite useful for marquee selecting the loop region. I just have to remember to turn it off again each time.

Trashing Logic's prefs is probably the quickest way of resolving such a problem... rather than spending hours trying to track down exactly what you accidentally changed or reprogrammed/reassigned
You can resolve many issues by restoring Logic Pro X back to its original settings. This will not impact your media files. To reset your Logic Pro X user preference settings to their original state, do the following:
- Quit Logic Pro
- In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
- Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
- Press the Go button.
- Remove the "com.apple.logic10.plist" file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you've programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You might want to export your custom key commands before performing this step.
- Remove the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder. (Note this is the control surface settings file. You may need to set up your control surfaces again after deleting this)
- Restart the computer.
Note: If you cannot find any of the files listed, you did not follow the instructions exactly as written! 🙂
I have a follow-up question, basically another unexplained annoyance that started about the same time as I upgraded to Yosemite. My pointer tool has become kind of "sticky". Suddenly I find I am dragging events around, often to different tracks. Theres a lot of Cmd-Z going on. I was hoping this would be cured with the prefs fix, but sadly not. I guess my question is the same - have I activated some "sticky" button? Or is this to do with Yosemite and my 5 year old Macbook Pro. There's a hardware upgrade due at least.

Oddly enough the problem might well be you have accidentally turned on OS X's 'Sticky Keys' function...
OS X's System Preferences > Accessibility > Keyboard
Them... Make sure Sticky Keys is unchecked. Also click on the option button for Sticky Keys and make sure "Turn on by pressing Shift 5 times" is unchecked too...
Also check for any 'odd' settings under Mouse/Trackpad in Accessibility too (Not yhe normal Mouse/trackpad settings in Sys Prefs but under Accessibility)
Other than that it could be your trackpad is having a few issues.. Do you notice similar behavior in other apps or just LPX?
That is sensible advice, Nigel - thanks. I did check and all the settings look normal (in the normal controls also). I have tested a number of programs and this sticky-click behaviour seems unique to Logic. Also it's not project specific - I checked that. Observing the behaviour in detail, what happens is 1) I click on and release an event in a track 2) the waveform disappears. I can can wait any length of time at this point, the waveform will not return, and it appears while like this I am in "sticky mode" i.e., holding the click 3) If I next move my finger across the track-pad and click in say another track it will drag and drop the event there, and also the waveform redraws. If I was to click a menu item at the top of the screen, it will drop the event into the top most track. Most troubling is making unnoticed small shifts of an event within a track. Suddenly it is out of syc with everything - which is really how I discovered the problem in the first place.
I have just done a complete uninstall-reinstall of LPX, to no avail. At present I keep the Edit History window open and check it constantly to see if I have made any inadvertent event shifts along the timeline and immediately undo them. I also lock any tracks that I'm not editing. Clearly I can't continue to work this way, but I need to finish the current project somehow. This is all for information and I'm not expecting some magic solution. Maybe the next software update will remedy this.
