Q: YAHOO IMAP server declines my Login/Password in Mail

Hi, I m using Mail.app as my mail client for all of my accounts and periodically a message pops up which tells me that Yahoo IMAP sever declined my password while suggesting me to re-enter my password. Today that message appears over and over again even if I enter my correct password repeatedly - to no avail. I logged in via my browser (Safari) and it worked but for some reason it encounters problems via Mail app. How do I resolve the issue once and for all? I tried to contact Yahoo service but it's so awful - everything is "automated" so that you wouldn't be able to contact a living personal.

Thanks.

    Greetings scrutinizer82,

It seems you are being repeatedly prompted to enter the password for your email account. The following article provides troubleshooting steps which may help you find a solution:

If Mail on your Mac keeps asking for your password - Apple Support

Mail may say that it can't connect to your email account, and repeatedly ask you to enter the password for it.

Mail is connecting to your email service provider, but it can't connect your email account because your email provider isn't accepting your email password.

     Mail connection error

Your email provider may reject your password for several reasons, including:

    • You're not using your current email password. If you updated the password on another device, make sure that you're using the same password on this device.
    • Your email provider needs you to update or reset your password for security reasons. For example, if you turned on Google’s two-step verification, your Gmail account in Mail now requires the appropriate app password.
    • Your email provider deactivated or suspended your account. Contact your email provider for help.
