May 17, 2015 1:57 AM in response to Jean-Charles Poirierby léonie,Don't even try to uninstall Photos. Just remove it from the Dock and ignore it.
The Photos.app is installed as part of the system and it uses the underlying parts of the system. Otheraparts of the system will depend on the presence of Photos.
Compare the sizes of the applications: On my MacBook Pro:
- iPhoto, version 9.6.1 has 1.7 GB
- Photos has only 50,3 MB
The Photos.app is not larger than one large RAW file in the Library. It is a launcher for code in the System libraries. You will not gain anything by uninstalling it but other apps may have problems.

Before ( about a year ago ) I went to my Apple Store with my new purchase Macbook Pro and I asked them to remove the I-Photo program that came with the OS Mac system because I hated it as well. They did it, how...humm I'am really not sure. I think they reload the OS Mac system onto my computer without asking I-Photo to be install.
Anyway, it works perfectly and I did'nt have that stupid program anymore and gained some free space on my flah drive as a bonus.
But a few weeks ago I saw on App Store that Apple had a brand new Apps called only Photos, so I though that it was something else entirely, at least not I-Photos. before downloading it I was at about 250 GB storage. Just after loading and installing that stupid new apple Apps I went up to 435 GB immediaty.
So in a fraction of seconds I lost almost 200 GB free of space, and I'am left with only 60 something GB left of free memory or Storage on my Macbook Pro Flash Drive. That NEW HOTOS apps that I've downloaded from Apps Store in not in my dock anymore but I cannot ignore that since I downloaded and install it it took 200 GB of my flash drive memory, so I wish to erase/delete the stupid apps from my computer for ever BUT SAFELY, BEING CERTAIN THAT I WILL NOT LOOSE ANY PHOTOS AND PICTURES OF MINE that are on my computer even and especially before I choose to download and install that Apple Photos Apps.
Can you or anybody help me...??

The iPhoto application comes preinstalled, but it is not part of MacOS X. It is sold separately from the App Store and you can simply trash the application from the Applications folder and delete the iPhoto iPhoto Library. The new Photos is part of MacOS X, like Contacts, Calendar, or Mail, and cannot be installed separately,

Photos will have migrated your iPhoto Library or Aperture Library and created a new Photos Library.
Look into your Pictures folder:
You will see the new library that Photos created, it will be recognisable by the colourful icon and the filename extension ".photoslibrary".
Do you have any iPhoto Library or Aperture Library in the Pictures folder?
Then make sure, that your main photo library (iPhoto, Apertue) is still there, and then move the Photos Library.photoslibrary library to the Trash and empty the Trash.
This library does not actually require much storage, even if your used storage seems to have increased. The reported file size is shared with your migrated iPhoto Library or Aperture Library, see this link: Photos saves disk space by sharing images with your iPhoto or Aperture libraries - Apple Support
BUT SAFELY, BEING CERTAIN THAT I WILL NOT LOOSE ANY PHOTOS AND PICTURES OF MINE
How are you storing your Photos on your Mac? Which app are you using?
