Install Snow Leopard on a newer machine

I use Final Cut Express and am looking for a faster MacBook than what I'm using. I'm looking for a used one because I only use the computer for FCE and one other program. The latest operating system that I can use is OS 10.6.8. If I find a laptop that has a newer operating system can I install Snow Leopard on the computer? If so, what are the pitfalls to look for?

FYI: I have never been able to get Final Cut Studio 2 (the cousin of FCE 3.5) to work within Snow Leopard running in virtualization (Parallels).

That being said, FCE 3.5 and FCS2 can run in Mavericks and Yosemite after an installation "workaround" is accomplished.

What version are you using and which modern version of OS X will you be using?

What is your work around to install it on anything newer?

I have no research experience with the "cousins:" FCP 7, FCS 3 & FCE 4. You might just try to install them directly and see what happens.

My experience is with FCP 6, FCS 2 & FCE 3.5. In those cases there were 3 methods to install them:

1) Pacifist

2) The method described by Jeremy Johnstone in his blog: http://www.jeremyjohnstone.com/blog/2012-03-11-installing-final-cut-pro-studio-2 -0-on-mac-os-x-10-7-lion.html ; and

3) The ultimate refinement described by Hawaiian Hippie: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5591321?answerId=26309669022#26309669022

Be sure to come back and report your, hopeful, successes! 🙂
