My time capsule and disk are showing up. My computer tells me how much space is available on the disk, and I can even enter Time Machine and see my most recent backups. My computer however, has not backed itself up in two weeks and continues to not do so.

Sometimes you need to take extreme measures..
But first. Verify the backup.
And delete the existing TM setup and redo it..

Although older instructions they can still be helpful.
Otherwise the full blown reset of the TC to factory and start over again.
Sometimes TM simply refuses to continue working.
Make sure your Yosemite computer has not changed its share name.. as this happens regularly as it has issues with ghosting.

Sigh. That's absurd. Starting from scratch over wifi plain stinks. This is the second time. This does NOT boost my confidence in a feature that is supposed to reliably protect my data. Apple needs to fix this immediately.
That is why I am recommending people spend the $40 and get Carbon Copy Cloner or a similar 3rd party.. TM has become part of a big problem that has to do with network reliability.. If you can change the backup to a disk plugged directly into the computer.. that is the way to go.. but for network you need something better.
