Q: video resolution specification in .m3u8 playlists
In Compressor 4.2 the .m3u8 playlist files generated by for http live streaming now specify resolution for each video in the list, i.e
#EXT-X-STREAM-INF:AVERAGE-BANDWIDTH=5239835,BANDWIDTH=7319668,CODECS="mp4a.40.2, avc1.4d401f",RESOLUTION=960x540
The result for me was that Safari on desktop was only playing back the video at the smallest size resolution irregardless of my bandwidth. I deleted the resolution specifications from from all lines of the playlist and voila the video now plays at sizes dependent on my internet connection. I wonder why apple decided to add the video resolution specification in the current release of compressor. It worked fine before. Anybody experienced this. I hope this will not cause a problem with playback on mobile devices
