Hard disk not detecting

I have an apple server running OS X 10.5, when I remove and put it back the hard disk, it is not detecting.

What hardware is your apple server? For example is it an Xserve? MacPro etc?

Simply unlocking the Xserve will 'cure' your problem. Locking it prevents any externally attached device, even a keyboard and/or mouse, from being detected if its locked. If the Xserve is in a locked cabinet, or a cabinet that's in a locked room with limited access, then there's no need to lock it. If it's on a desk or table with easy access to all and sundry then do lock it after unlocking it. Although anyone with a number 9 Allen key can easily unlock it if you don't happen to be keeping an eye on it.
