My phone is asking for credit card details even for updating free apps.what to do

I just want to download a app! I really don't want to share with apple my bank details. When and if I want to buy any apps I can pay with PayPal..... I don't see it as a good thing this ...... crap!!!!

Whether payment details need to be entered before an account can be used will depend upon how you created the account. If you didn't use the relevant instructions when creating your account you will either need to enter card details on it (you can remove details after entering them), or use the instructions to create a new account.
