wifi having problems

My imac desktop is having problems connecting to the net. I have checked the modem is ok it has been confirmed it is working 100%. The ipad works no problem as well.

So this is something to do with my desktop.

I need to keep clicking on the configure button and the computer searches for the network and then says i am connected ok. So i am connected, but it is not smooth and seamless anymore.

Any ideas on what to do?

thanks

Mars

PS. I have an imac 11,2. I am not sure if it is the intel one.

If you are not having problems using the ethernet, you should use your iMac that way instead of wireless.

To troubleshoot when wireless try all of the following suggestions:

Try the basics first:

Change your router channel number. Most times this works & is all you have to do.

Disconnect & reconnect your modem. unplug it for about 10 seconds. Plug it back in. Do the same for Apple’s routers. Wait for everything to reboot.

System Preferences>Network

Click the Assist Me button.

In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

Also, run the Airport Utility app which is located inside the Utilities folder.
