I have a fairly old Power Mac but it generally works well. Unfortunately the Optiarc DVD AD-7170A will not now burn DVDs. It may well be a software problem but any suggestions or solutions that get me back on track would be gratefully received! Many thanks.
It easily could be shot, read & write use different lasers & electronics, but what happens exactly when you try?
Some possibolities if it's the drive...
Have you tried a drive-cleaning disk? They often fix stubborn optical drives that Apple techs say need replacing. At USS5 to US$15, they are MUCH cheaper than a new drive.
