iPhone 6 screws help!

I Bought my iPhone 6 a couple of months ago and a few weeks ago I saw that my screws came moderately stripped. I reported this to Apple via chat who said not to worry after I expressed concern that I might be blamed. My phone recently developed a dead pixel and I am taking it to the Apple Store on Saturday. Will Apple be able to see that I told Apple a few weeks ago about the screw and repair the phone or will they replace it without even looking at the screws because it's a dead pixel or will they not touch it at all

iPhone 6, iOS 8.3

Apple should have access to the history of your Apple care cases. If you used different emails or Apple ID's you may want to tell them about it, but the serial number should be enough for them to access the history.

I don't understand how the screws can become 'stripped' - normally that happens when you attempt to undo them with the wrong tools. When an Apple technician views the unit they should tell you if they think the unit has been opened, which voids the warranty. You may just be using 'stripped' in the wrong way 🙂

Good luck with it.

Well you may have different models, Apple change the designs of some parts.

Look at sites like iFixit to see how the screws have changed over time.

Some devices may have 'star' shaped ones…

'Stripped' can mean several things for screws -

'stripped head', e.g. the screwdriver spins instead of biting into the screw head.

'stripped thread', e.g. the screwdriver grips the screw head, but the thread is worn away so the screw spins making it difficult to remove.

Whatever your own definition of 'stripped' is! 🙂

If you haven't opened this device and have no reason to suspect anyone else has opened it, stop worrying about it see what Apple say at the store.

Apple generally replace faulty iOS units (they don't replace screens in most cases), so take a full backup in iTunes or iCloud before you go to the Apple store. That will allow them to exchange it for a similar model if they think it is appropriate.

I cannot say what the genius bar will do for you - I don't know what has been done to the device or what Apple's own guidelines are, stop fretting & take it to the store, we can't say what might happen.
