Does this mean it isn't repairable? my daughter has only had the phone 4 months and it cost £540. Its not something covered by warranty
Water damage is user damage and is not covered under warranty. You cannot reverse water damage. The only exception to the price is if you purchased Apple Care Plus when you purchased the phone. An out of warranty replacement is much cheaper than the cost of a new phone, trust me.
Liquid damage is not repairable at all by Apple. It is not covered by warranty. It is considered accidental damage or abuse. You may want to check your homeowners or renters insurance to see if they will cover it.
