iTunes purchases that used to sync automatically from my Apple ID onto my MacBook Pro aren't syncing.

In the past, there would be a download option on my MacBook Pro's iTunes application that would allow songs I've purchased on my iPhone (5S) and Apple ID to download onto my computer. They would sync perfectly, but now, that download option is gone. (Mind you I have the most recently updated version of iTunes and iOS.) I don't want to sync it in fear I might lose anything, so how do I get those songs onto my MacBook without syncing my phone?

MacBook Pro, iOS 8.3, Purchases were made on an iPhone 5S
